The NCAA March Madness always brings a party when the Final Four Championship comes to town, and this year was no different. Held in Phoenix, Arizona, the NCAA held their March Madness Capital One Jamfest Music Festival at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, and featured Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Blink 182, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, with Aerosmith as headliner. This star-packed lineup was free to all who wanted to attend, and people from all over poured into the Valley of the Sun ready to get raucous and rowdy. Thousands of people began lining up at the entrance as early as 9am to guarantee themselves entry into the show before the 20,000 person capacity for the park was hit, with one couple I met who had flown in from Australia barely making it through the gates. Capacity was hit before Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took the stage, and with the gates closed and all eyes on them, they romped their way through a 45 minute set that will not likely be forgotten anytime soon. Opening up with “Ten Thousand Hours,” the crowd immediately were off their feet, their stomping and dancing only matched by Macklemore’s own onstage theatrics and impeccably choreographed performance. He followed “Brad Pitt’s Cousin”, replete with background dancers, which bled into an action packed “Thrift Shop”. These three hits set the pace for the rest of his set, which included videos, costume changes, and even an audience dance off to, you guessed it, “Dance Off” to close out his set. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took the stage for an encore which, if possible, put the rest of the set to shame, performing Downtown with a guest appearance by Eric Nally.
