Adam Turla of Murder by Death performing at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Az.
Murder by Death and William Elliot Whitmore, long time friends and new Bloodshot Records label mates, took the stage at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Az on 9/7/2018 on the second stop of their new tour, and the first MBD show that has ever sold out in Phoenix. Each act was touring a brand new album, The Other Shore and Kilonova respectively, out on Bloodshot Records. William Elliott Whitmore opened the night, bringing his brand of social activism to the stage through a strong set which many in the crowd knew by heart. By the time Murder by Death took the stage, the entire house was packed and buzzing with energy. Murder by Death hasn’t played in Phoenix in two years, instead routing through Tucson in the summer of 2017 on tour with Tiger Army, and many were anxious to dance and sing along to their favorite tracks. Lead by Adam Turla and Sarah Balliet, Murder By Death opened with select songs off their newest album, including True Dark, Space, I Have Arrived, and Last Night on Earth, before launching into their deep catalog of past albums. From the racaus and swaying drinking songs, to sedate ruminates on on life and lost love, there was something for every fan, from the casual to the die hard. Murder by Death and William Elliott Whitmore are on tour through the end of October and are a bill not to be missed.
